New Balances in the Middle East, Iran, Arabs, Islamists, Israel!

With Ukraine crisis, the World’s attention turned to Eurasia. Russian Special Forces actually occupied the Crimea last days. Western countries are trying to recover Ukraine with all his strength. The European Union has agreed to aid to Ukraine 11 billion Euro and the IMF has also pledged to lend 3 billion dollar.

Meanwhile, the Middle East has moved away from the agenda of the world. The balances in the region have been turned upside down due to renounce the United States’ support to Muslim Brotherhood and the termination from the Greater Middle East Project. For this reason, new balances are establishing quietly. Each country is making plans according to their interests.

In Tunisia, the effectiveness of Islamist movements has reduced on the administration. Government of Tunisia has took action to get back of 35 billion dinars which has stolen from the treasury by former dictator Zine El Abidine Ben Ali while he was fleeing to Saudi Arabia in 2011.

In Iran, Babak Zanjani who is the boss of Reza Zarrab, has been arrested. Government of Iran was detected that the assets of Zanjani is about 14 billion dollars. A Kurdish deputy in Iranian Assembly offered the establishment of a Kurdish province whose capital city is Mahabad. However, Iranian Turks vehemently opposed this offer.

In Bahrain, pro-Iranian groups have continued to show against Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates. Saudi Arabia and the U.A.E. are trying to establish a new Islamic Front towards the Muslim Brotherhood. Around 250 Arab scholars and the Sheikh of Al-Azhar from Egypt are organizing the forum for the creation of a moderate Islamic Community which is against violence in the region. As is known, the Emirates and the Saudis have supported the military coup in Egypt and have taken the Muslim Brotherhood to their terror lists.

Qatar is watching in a different way from other Gulf countries. It did not interrupt its contact with the Muslim Brotherhood and it did not accept leaving of Khaled Mashal, Hamas’s political bureau chief, from the country. So Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and U.A.E. had withdrawn its ambassadors from Qatar.

Khaled Mashal, Hamas’s political bureau chief, is currently vacant due to leaving from Damascus before the Syrian crisis –also at the request of Turkiye-. Hamas re-working to strengthen its relations with Iran like the old days.

Also Hezbollah which is supporting Syria in Lebanon is looking for ways to peace again with the Sunni Islamist organizations.

Israel will continue to support Assad in Syria for a longer time. Because if Assad falls today, Israeli-Syrian border (Golan and Kunaytra) control will pass to the Nusra Front. Therefore, Israel sees fit its interests to continue of the Assad Government hegemony around Damascus. In contrast, it is looking positive to establish federations in northern Syria by the PKK supporters and Islamist groups. In particular, it is continuing cooperation with the U.S. and Western countries about the removal of Russia from Latakia and Tartous ports. Mossad and The French Secret Service (DGSE) are carrying out important activities with the Syrian opposition for money.

One of the most important developments in the Middle East is the normalization of the Turkish-Israeli relations. With this study which has come to the fore during the meeting of Obama – Erdogan, Israel, Cyprus and Turkiye will work jointly about the extraction and the marketing of the Mediterranean natural gas. Noble Energy from the United States, Delek Group from Israel and Turcas, Zorlu, Calik, Enka Energy from Turkiye will cooperate for the marketing of natural gas reserves at about 400 billion dollars.
