As a researcher who researched the oppression of the Assad regime, which is based on the 12 percent Nusayri Minority, against the 80 percent Sunni majority since 1970, and who witnessed these oppression and massacres in the 1980s, I would not want to mention the title above.
A speech by the Turkish Foreign Minister about “there is no choice but to reconcile the Opposition and the Assad Regime” has led to large demonstrations in the cities of Northern Syria, which has survived thanks to the Turkish Army since yesterday. People who took to the streets in all cities expressed their strong opposition to such an initiative by Turkey.
At the start of the Syrian civil war that started 12 years ago, the Syrian Opposition seemed to dominate almost 80% of the country. With the intervention of the Daish Terrorist Organization, a US Project, almost more than half of the country came under the control of this organization. Over time, Daish began to hand over the lands in the north-east of Syria to the PKK Terrorist Organization through ostensible conflicts. After the war started by the Turkish Armed Forces against Daish, the organization collapsed and lost its effectiveness. The US, Russia, Iran and Israel, which seemed to be intransigent, united in the region against Turkiye and tried to make the operations carried out by Turkiye in northern Syria unsuccessful. While the USA handed over Manbij under self control to Russia, not its NATO ally Turkiye, the AynulArab region and the east of RasulAyn were almost shared by Russia, the USA and the PKK. The Assad Regime and the PKK Terrorist Organization have been openly used against Turkiye.
Without Turkiye’s intervention in such a process, not a single combatant of the Sunni Opposition in Syria would have survived. The country would have been completely under the control of the PKK Terrorist Organization and the Assad Regime. While this is the case, the demonstrations organized since yesterday by the Sunni Opposition against Turkiye’s efforts to find a military and diplomatic solution are truly a turning point. That is why it has become obligatory to write the Turkish Proverb above.
The situation today is very similar to the situation Mustafa Kemal Atatürk lived in Syria during World War I. During his duty in Damascus, Mustafa Kemal founded the “Homeland and Freedom Society” to awaken the Arab society against the imperialist countries. Although he tried to spread the organization in Damascus, Beirut, Jerusalem, Haifa and Aqaba, he failed. In the most recent Palestinian and Aleppo resistance, some local Arab groups supported the British and Saudi forces forces. Mustafa Kemal also determined a line of retreat and defense from the north of Latakia to the south of Aleppo and saved the lands of the region from the British occupation.
Now, these are the regions that Turkiye must defend. The Middle East Arab Community has not been able to find a rational solution to the Palestinian issue for years. While all major Palestinian cities were under Arab control until the death of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, after Atatürk, the British put an end to Arab domination in Palestine with the Peel Sharing Plan.
There has been no peace and tranquility for a century in the lands of the Middle East, which were separated from the Turkish protectorate. Turkey also has no intention to taking protect the region again. The Turkish State has no other aim than to secure its borders by clearing the PKK and Daish Terrorist Organizations on its southern borders.
Demonstrations of Syrian Arabs and Sunni Opposition in response to Turkiye’s efforts is an example completely of ignorance of history.
