The U.S. Urgently Must Request Mubarak’s Resignation

The popular revolt continues for the overthrow Hosni Mubarak in Egypt.  Egypt which led by generals and military leaders since the Ottoman period is going towards a military rebellion. Nasser in 1952, Anwar Sadat in 1970 and his deputy Hosni Mubarak in 1981, after the assassination, are three important leaders in Egypt in a half century.

The events that shaped the politics in Egypt during this century were always bloody and severe. Assassinations, arrests and tortures are higher than almost all Arab countries. Muslim Brotherhood which is the world’s first Islamic political movement, founded in there and its founder Hassan al Banna was also killed by a military assassination.

There were many important organizations on the Egyptians. Munazzamatu’l Jihad and Tekfir wa’l Hijra are only two in these very powerful underground Islamic organizations. These organisations are opposite of American unlike similar Islamic organizations in the world and close relationships with Russian intelligence services. Jihad leader Ayman al-Zawahiri is also the brain of Al-Qaeda today. These organizations established strong structures enough to kill ministers and prime ministers.

At this stage, the United States, urgently and openly must request the Mubarak‘s resignation. Otherwise, Americans will be held responsible for the blood will flow.

In the last 20 years, State Intelligence Agency (Jihaz al-Muhaberatu’l Amme) gained a structure in managing and checking of almost all of the state. The agency is the cornerstone of the dictatorship of Mubarak and strengthened in recent years by Omar Suleiman who has been appointed as State Vice-Chairman. The organization’s current number of employees is around 350.000. However, the Egyptian Armed Forces is about 450.000 in size.

In this structure, waiting for the power to change as easily as in Tunis is very optimistic. Hosni Mubarak and his assistant will play all their trump cards to keep power in their hands. High commanders of Armed Forces are as Mubarak‘s puppets, lower level officers will not be silent in attacking the public.

We hope that the revolution in Egypt not a conflict between two large security force. At this stage, the healthiest change is a quiet military coup. At this stage, the United States, urgently and openly must request the Mubarak‘s resignation. Otherwise, Americans will be held responsible for the blood that will flow.
